Internet gambling was banned in the U.S by a 2006 federal statute that outlawed financial transactions closely related to online gambling across the state. Where the U.S online poker market earned a $5 billion dollar revenue.

Rational Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. is the lobbying force behind the bill who also owned Poker Stars in the internet. Based on Britain’s Isle of Man, this company is running several gambling sites which the United States consider illegal.

MGM Resorts Spokesman Alan Feldman said that the company would contrast the bill because it gives Poker Stars and Full Tilt an easy process to be licensed. Mr. Feldman also said, “You have one company trying to impose a business model on legislation, We have to eliminate illegal online gambling and crack down on foreign operators that don’t comply with federal law.”
